A Limestone man arrested in a traffic stop tried to smuggle marijuana into the Washington County Detention Center on Sunday, Johnson City police said.

Joshua A. Wood, 21, 138 Davy Crockett Road, Limestone, was arrested after police stopped his pickup on Sunset Drive about 3 a.m. Police said they saw Wood’s pickup almost strike the curb twice and pull past the white stop bar at the traffic signal at Sunset and North Roan Street. Once the light turned green, police saw the truck start weaving from lane to lane and speeding.

Wood was charged with DUI and speeding. As he was booked into the Detention Center, police said, officers discovered Wood had hidden marijuana on him. He was charged with simple possession of marijuana and introduction or possession of weapons, explosives, intoxicants or drugs into a penal institution where prisoners are quartered.

He was held on $7,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Monday.
