Police have released surveillance images from Monday’s armed robbery of a Johnson City Walgreens pharmacy. It was the second time a local Walgreens had been robbed in a week, and police think the two may be related.

About 9 p.m. Tuesday, a man walked into the Walgreens at 429 N. State of Franklin Road, showed a gun and demanded drugs. He left after the staff handed over some drugs.

The robber was described as standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 185 pounds, and wearing sunglasses, khaki pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, a dark backpack and a multicolor bucket-style hat. The witnesses described a tattoo of some sort on the side of the man’s neck.

Police said Monday’s robbery may be related to the Sept. 8 robbery at the Walgreens at 2104 Bobby Hicks Highway, Gray.

The Johnson City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is seeking information regarding either robbery. Anyone having information is asked to call (423) 434-6166 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 434-6158.
