KINGSPORT — Sunday evening's Sullivan County tornado revealed more than the devastating side of nature, according to police, but also nearly $2,000 worth of goods recently stolen in Kingsport burglaries.

The discovery was made by a resident of Rock Springs Road who ran to his neighbor's home after witnessing it being leveled by the storm. He reportedly found no one present among the debris — but did spot an air compressor recently stolen from his own barn.

As of Monday night, Jerrod L. Christian, 26, of 1912 Rock Springs Road, had pending charges on two counts of burglary, one count of theft over $500 and one count of theft over $1,000. He was questioned on Monday at the Sullivan County jail in Blountville, said Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Patton.
