BMS welcomes Dorian evacuees; Red Cross volunteers head toward storm

Northeast Tennessee is welcoming those fleeing from Hurricane Dorian while sending volunteers to help in the areas that may see the storm’s impact.

Bristol Motor Speedway announced Monday that it will open its campgrounds to hurricane evacuees. Evacuees may access the Medallion Campground off Tenn. Highway 394 beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3, at noon. Evacuees are encouraged to call toll free 866-415-4158 for more information.

The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross has deployed 48 volunteers to respond to the relief and disaster preparedness for Hurricane Dorian.

Volunteers have been sent to Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.
