ABINGDON, Va.— The Barter Youth Academy announces its show list — with registration now open for fall 2018.

The upcoming season will focus on shows from the mystery genre featuring the theme of “Mystery and Mayhem”. Barter Youth Academy allows students under the age of 18 to work through the theatre experience, from the audition process to the final performance in front of a live audience all with the help of Barter Theatre’s Resident Acting Company.

Titles for the upcoming season include “Young Sherlock” for children ages 8-11, and “Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars” for ages 12-18. Pre-academy students, ages 5-7, even get the experience of creating their own mystery in-class with their instructors. This season will also include a new Comedy Improv course for those ages 12-18 with hilarious Barter Resident Actor Carrie Smith Lewis as the instructor.

Classes for Barter Youth Academy run mid-Sept. through mid-Nov. Classes will meet once a week until their final performance. All the hard work that the children have put into creating these productions will be displayed on local stage, in front of a live audience that includes parents, instructors, and Barter Theatre professionals.

Campuses for Barter Youth Academy are located throughout the Tri-Cities region. Including Abingdon, Virginia; Bristol, Tennessee; Johnson City, Tennessee; and the brand new campus in Kingsport, Tennessee at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education.
