The swimmer-of-the-year awards, won by Daniel Boone’s Cassie Lowe (female) and Science Hill representative Matthew Potter (male), are determined by national power points based on a swimmer's best three events.
Lowe won the 500-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke events at the regional meet and placed ninth in the 500 freestyle at the Tennessee State Championship. As for Potter, he bagged regional crowns in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke before posting a pair of top-10 state finishes (6th in individual medley; 9th in breaststroke).
Diver-of-the-year recognition is determined by the combined placing at the regional and state meets. The female winner is Dobyns-Bennett’s Kynadi Lane, who claimed the regional title and placed sixth at the state meet. Honored on the male side was Nick VanEaton, who harvested a regional title and eighth-place state finish for the Hilltoppers.
Coach-of-the-year awards, determined by a vote of one's peers, went to Dobyns-Bennett’s Nathan Love (girls) and Sullivan Central’s Rebecca Templeton (boys).
Love’s Lady Indians seized a regional championship, which they followed up with a 12th-place state showing. Templeton guided the Cougars a fourth-place regional effort.
