Milligan men, women swimmers win meet at home

MILLIGAN COLLEGE — The Milligan College men's and women's swimming teams were both victorious Saturday afternoon at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, earning wins against Warren Wilson College.

The women won 141-37, the men won 111-91, and the Buffaloes were victorious by a combined score of 252-128.

The Buffs were winners in 12 of the 20 events, including victories in each of the four relay races as Jon Guy, Grant Callahan, Brian Sackett Jr. and Phoenix Hunigan combined for wins in the 400 SC Meter Medley Relay and the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay. The women's team also won both races, using a team of Casey Knapp, Alyssa Boyer, Emily Mark and Caroline Walker in the first, and a team of Boyer, Makenzie Bennett, Mark and Knapp in the second.

Individually, Walker finished first in her two races to lead the Buffs in race wins. Bennett finished second in both of her races. Other individual winners of the women's side were Boyer, Mark and Maeve Lee, while Sackett Jr., Hunigan and Callahan rounded out the winners on the men's side for Milligan.

Milligan's next meet will be Friday-Saturday, Nov. 20-21, at the Brenau Invitational in Gainesville, Georgia, in its final meet of the fall season.
