Johnson City and Washington County secured several spots among the thousands of statewide attractions, entertainment and events listed in the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development’s 2018 Official Tennessee Vacation Guide.

The Tweetsie Trail secured a spot on a list for places to bike, and Wetlands in Jonesborough is featured in waterparks to visit across the state. The free guide, which is also available online, will be available at Tennessee’s 15 welcome centers, where millions of people will have the chance to see it.

Jenna Moore and Brenda Whitson, both with the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, said that Johnson City has a lot to offer when it comes to tourism — with downtown Johnson City offering a wide variety of options, from locally owned restaurants to new breweries popping up around town to music venues like The Down Home.

“That’s why its important to note that all of those things we do have here in Johnson City,” Whitson said. “If you look at the entire region as a whole we really hit all those pillars.

“It’s really important that we are going to have messaging of our attraction in front of so many eyes.”

Turning to 2018 goals, the Chamber is looking to highlight the outdoor charm of the area with a campaign called Find Your Pace. Moore and Whitson said that focus will be on attractions like Tannery Knobs and Buffalo Mountain, as they aim to showcase the scenic side of Johnson City.
