Ackerman powers Boone over Crockett

Megan Ackerman had six RBIs including a 2-run home run in the first inning and a three-run homer in the second as Daniel Boone won 15-3 over David Crockett in Big Seven Conference softball action on Monday afternoon.

She ended 2 for 3 with two runs scored in addition to the RBIs and also was the winning pitcher giving up three runs, five hits and no walks in a five-inning game.

Makenna Deitz was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs, while MaKenna Dance and Greyson Stevens drove in two runs each. Dannah Persinger was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Jaycie Jenkins had a home run also scored two runs.

“I thought we came out and took control right off the bat,” Daniel Boone coach Jeremy Jenkins said. “Jaycie had the home run in the first and that really sparked everything. We had some really good at-bats. We’ve worked hard the past couple of days of getting the bat brow to the ball and our kids did a good job of battling all through the lineup.”

Mackenzie Baldwin had a two-run home run in the fourth to lead Crockett. Alyssa Suits had a RBI single for the Lady Pioneers’ other run. Kara Weems suffered the loss, while Jenna Davis also pitched for Crockett.

Dobyns-Bennett 6, Twin Springs, Va. 3

KINGSPORT — Kassidy Miller went 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored, while Emma Allgood was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs to lead the Lady Indians. Kierstyn Judd also went 2 for 3 with a RBI and two runs scored.

Emaileigh Powers was 2 for 3 with a solo home run and McKenna Dean was 2 for 4 for the Lady Titans. Chenoa Dean also added a solo home run.

Volunteer 14, Sullivan North 2

KINGSPORT — Aliyah Crawley was 2 for 2 with a two-run home run and Sydney Allen went 3 for 4 Myrtle Lawson had two hits to lead the Lady Falcons over the Lady Raiders.

Allie Chandler was the winning pitcher.

Cloudland 5, University High 0

ROAN MOUNTAIN — Kenzie Birchfield threw a complete game and gave up three hits to earn the win.

Korah Fields and Jasmine Birchfield each had two hits for the Lady ’Landers. Krisi Bare had a triple as Cloudland jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead.

Avery Kibelbek pitched for the Lady Bucs and collected two of team’s hits.


David Crockett 10, Volunteer 5

Cade Larkins pounded out three hits, while Grady Cash and Landon Quillen had two each in the Pioneers’ victory. Luke Adams earned the win.

Dobyns-Bennett 11, Tennessee High 1

KINGSPORT — Jackson McDavid threw a one-hitter, giving up just a single to Bryce Snyder in the Indians’ romp over the Vikings.

Aaron Farley hit a solo home run off losing pitcher Cole Presson in the second innings.

Dobyns-Bennett scored six runs in a decisive third innings. Cade Maupin, Jake Timbes and Farley all had two hits for the Indians.

Elizabethton 13, Sullivan Central 3

ELIZABETHTON — Getting five hits and seven RBIs from the top three hitters in the lineup, the Cyclones ran away from the Cougars.

The Cyclones broke open a close game with a four-run fourth inning, and then ended the game on the mercy rule with a six-run sixth.

Bryson Rollins had two hits and three RBIs while Karson Dillard and Evan Carter each drove in two runs.

Carter (5-2) went the distance on the mound, allowing seven and three runs, one earned. He walked two and struck out 10.

Central got two hits each from Trey Sells and Kaden Grayer.

Sullivan South 11, Sullivan East 7

KINGSPORT —The Rebels took a big step toward second place in the Three Rivers Conference by building a 10-1 third-inning lead and holding off a Patriots’ comeback.

Both teams are 8-3 in league play.

South (17-9) got RBIs from all but one hitter in the lineup, and that player, Peyton Stanley, had two hits. Austin Monds drove in a pair of runs. Cory Williams worked five-plus innings to get the win on the mound.

East (12-9) got four hits from Perry Casaday. Dylan Bartley and Ethan Terry each totaled two hits. Terry drove in a pair of runs.

Unaka 1, Providence Academy 0

ELIZABETHTON — John Ramsey pitched a complete-game shutout and Reid Taylor drove in the game’s only run as the Rangers defeated the Knights.

Wise Central, Va. 4, Hampton 3

WISE, Va. — Bryson Collins was 2 for 3 at the plate and threw an inning of relief to earn the win.Ben Brickey was the Warriors’ starter, while EJ McDaniel had a two-run double.

Dalton Rouse went 3 for 4 and Mitchell Tolley drove in two runs to lead the Bulldogs. Morgan Lyons suffered the loss, striking out five and giving up six hits and four runs over 5 2/3 innings.


Providence Academy 3, Asheville Trailblazers 1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Lita Lennon had a goal in the second minute for Providence. Anna Hodge added a pair of second-half goals in the 53rd and 79th minute for the other scores. Maddie France and Victoria Davis each had an assist. Callie Burchette had three saves.
