Sams finished with four runs and three RBIs. Jillian Shackelford went 3 for 5 with a double and four RBIs, while Cayden Bawgus homered, scored twice and totaled three RBIs in going 2 for 2.
Hannah Scott was 2 for 4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. Kinzie Brown batted 2 for 4 and winning pitcher Kylee Wolfe belted a home run.
Macy Puckett, who went 2 for 2 and had a pair of RBIs, and Maddie Lingerfelt, 2 for 3, topped the Lady Warriors. Happy Valley was within two runs (10-8) before the Lady Pats plated the game’s final eight runs.
Cherokee 7, Carter 6
ROGERSVILLE — The Chiefs scored on an error in the bottom of the 10th inning to get the win over the Hornets.
Trent Price was 4 for 6 with two doubles and Carter Morelock was 3 for 5 to lead the Cherokee offense. Nick Collins had a solo home run in the sixth inning and Ryan Morgan had two RBIs.
Luke Condra went the first seven innings, striking out eight and giving up just two walks. Jackson Davenport threw the final three innings and picked up the win.
Science Hill 3, Unicoi County 2
ERWIN—Abigail Taylor totaled three hits and knocked in a run for the Lady Hilltoppers, who got a pair of Emma Cullop RBIs in edging out Unicoi County.
One of Taylor’s hit was a double, helping make a winner out of Sejal Neas, who struck out five batters and held the Lady Blue Devils to four hits.
Samanta Chavez dented a two-run single in the sixth, cutting into a 3-0 Lady ’Toppers advantage. Betsabe Chavez doubled and pitcher Allee Griffith totaled eight strikeouts.
Sullivan South 11, Sullivan North 1
KINGSPORT—Austin Monds cracked a bases-clearing double in a five-run inning for Sullivan South.
Peyton Stanley followed up Monds with an RBI triple, then Cole Layne single home a run.
Monds went 2 for 4 with a pair of runs in the six-inning affair. Reaching base four times, Layne finished 1 for 1 with a sacrifice and two hit-by-pitches. Also plunked on two occasions, Drew Creech walked and scored twice.
Chandler Raleigh had two hits for the visiting Golden Raiders, who avoided a shutout with a sixth-inning run.
Centennial 13, Dobyns-Bennett 3
KINGSPORT—Jonathan Poullard registered three RBIs, Mikey Medvid had two hits and Solomon Washington homered for Centennial, which buried the Indians with a nine-run third inning.
The five-inning game saw Centennial draw eight walks to go with seven hits. Producing just three hits, D-B got two RBIs from Derick Thurston.
