It took a mere 27 seconds for Milligan freshman Audra Morgan to convert the game’s opening goal.

The Lady Buffs didn’t slow down from there, going on to post a 5-1 victory over Bryan in Appalachian Athletic Conference soccer quarterfinal action on Tuesday night at Anglin Field.

This is the seventh consecutive win for Milligan (11-4-1), with two of the last four coming at the expense of the fifth-seeded Lady Lions (9-10).

Seeded fourth, the Lady Buffs will travel to top-seeded Truett McConnell (16-2) for a 2 p.m. semifinal on Saturday.

After assisting Morgan with the first goal, Bekah Cundiff found the back of the net in the 32nd minute to send Milligan to the half with a 2-0 advantage.

Cundiff was able to connect with Morgan on the outside of the box and Morgan was able to easily drive to the goal. Cundiff’s goal was assisted by freshman Danielle Calhoun, who found Cundiff inside the box. Milligan outshot Bryan 13-2 in the first half.

Milligan dominated the first four minutes of the second half, producing three goals.

Alyson McMillian scored in the 47th minute from an assist by Ashlen Burch. Burch kicked the ball from the far side of the field into the box, from where McMillan was able to find the back of the net.

Dharma Fawbush scored the next goal in the 48th minute off an assist by Cundiff, who passed the ball off to Fawbush, who scored by lofting the ball over the goalie’s head.

McMillan was able to score again in the 49th minute, making it a 5-0 match.

Bryan’s goal was scored off of a Arielle Hansford penalty kick (61st minute) after a foul in the box.
