ELIZABETHTON — When he was running for governor, Bill Lee made a lot of stops in Carter County.

Now that he is the governor, Lee appears to still like to stop in the Republican bastion.  Lee will be the speaker at the Carter County Republican Party’s 2019 Lincoln Day Dinner, which will take place on Thursday, May 16, with the program and dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.

There will also be a reception for the governor at 5:30 p.m. for those who purchase special ticket to the reception.

As is customary, the dinner will once again be held at Sutton Hall, 101 Neth Drive, on the campus of Milligan College, the site of nearly all the Carter County Lincoln Day Dinners in the past.

Tickets to the dinner are $30 and are available from the party’s executive board. Tickets may be purchased at the local party’s headquarters in the Ritz Mini Mall, 527 E. Elk Ave. in downtown Elizabethton. Tickets may also be available by calling party officers, including President Johnny Holder, 213-3072; Vice Chairwoman Judy Reed, 262-8163; or Rick and Rosemary Meredith, 534-8407. The tickets to the dinner and the preceding reception with the governor are $50.

Party members said that because of the governor’s appearance, tickets are limited and will likely be sold out soon.
