Carter Democrats to reorganize today

ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County Democratic Party will hold a biennial reorganization convention to elect new leaders today. Doors open for registration at 11 a.m., convention start time is noon.

The meeting will take place in the Franklin Conference Room at the Elizabethton Star, 300 N Sycamore St.

Local Democrats will elect a new chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, treasurer, and communications director for Carter County for two-year terms. All Democratic residents who are eligible voters of Carter County may attend to discuss the party’s agenda and events for 2019-20.

During reorganization, attendees will evaluate the effectiveness of their county party bylaws and leadership. Each county party determines its own needs, elects new leaders and enacts reforms to build a stronger grassroots organization.

The reorganization convention is open to all Carter County Democrats. Attendees should arrive early to complete credentialing forms and be admitted to the convention prior to noon, when the meeting begins.
