The public is invited to attend a candidate forum featuring Johnson City Commission and Board of Education candidates on Tuesday at Memorial Park Community Center.

Hosted by the Johnson City Press, the forum will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 7. The first hour will feature Board of Education candidates, and the second hour will be dedicated to the commission candidates.

Johnson City Press News Editor Nathan Baker will serve as moderator. Each candidate will be asked a series of questions relating to local issues impacting the city’s government and school system. The audience will also have an opportunity to pose questions to the candidates.

All five City Commission candidates have confirmed they will attend the forum. Incumbent Vice Mayor Jenny Brock, John Hunter, David Adams, Jeff Clark and William “Bud” Hill, Jr., will be seeking two open seats on the city’s governing body in the November election.

In the school board forum, incumbent Kathy Hall and newcomers Michelle Treece, Herb Greenlee and Paula Treece have confirmed their attendance. Robert Williams did not respond to our invitation and incumbent Tom Hager will be out of town.

Greenlee and Paula Treece will be listed separate on the ballot because they are seeking an unexpired two-year term on the Board of Education. Hall, Michelle Treece, Williams and Hager will be seeking four, four-year terms.

The forum will be live-streamed on our website, www.JohnsonCityPress.com. If you have a question you’d like to ask the candidates, send an email to [email protected].
