National Voter Registration Day was a cause for celebration on East Tennessee State University’s campus Tuesday as student organizations set up shop in Borchuck Plaza to register passers-by.

Organized by ETSU Votes, student groups like College Libertarians of ETSU and ETSU Pre-Law joined together in front of the Sherrod Library to share information and encourage civic engagement.

Along with registration, students were also given information on where and how to vote, including how-to’s on absentee ballots for those from out of town.

Joy Fulkerson, ETSU director of leadership and civic engagement, said that while the time for registration is winding down, the next step for ETSU Votes will be to focus on getting students to the polls in fun and interesting ways.
