Pets of the Week

I visited the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter today before their usual visiting hours, which means I missed the crowd, but it also gave me a moment to appreciate the work being done in preparation to open.

The folks at all of our regional shelters do a great job taking care of the animals housed therein, and the Johnson City folks are especially keen on care and cleanliness. If you get the chance to visit, they’d sure love to show off the work they’ve done, and the animals they’ve cared for.

While you’re there, remember to bring something to donate (or just make a donation), and come back to volunteer. You might even think of adopting, which would be the best choice of all.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Tavern is a very cute, very sweet, eighteen-week-old, male, orange tabby. Active and outgoing, this handsome domestic short hair would love to go home with you and spend hours playing, lounging, and becoming your best friend. Give him a shot!

• Zoe is a beautiful, sweet, and loving Chihuahua mix who loves older kids and other dogs, and would be perfect for any home or situation. She is one year old, has been spayed, and has a very healthy, very soft, brown and white coat. Pay her a visit and take her home!

• Madre is an adult female, and mother of two at the shelter. One of her young kittens has been adopted, so she is left kenneled with only one (and it would be wonderful if a prospective adopter could take them both). She is a very attractive and very attentive, white and gray calico, and she’d love to go home with you and show you how sweet she can be.

• Pete is a big, handsome boy with a lot of love to give. He is a three-year-old, male, tri-color hound with a bellowing voice and sweet nature. He would make any discerning dog owner proud, and would make any young children a happy playmate and protector. He’s a perfect family dog - just come down to the shelter to see for yourself.
