While the Elizabethton shelter is overrun with cats and kittens, and they have a sign posted giving notice that they cannot receive any more cats at this time, the staff wasn’t turning away animals in need. I left before finding out what would happen with the box and its contents, but I’m confident they were treated with care, as all the animals at your local shelters should be. If you’ve ever spent any time at all at an animals shelter, you know it is a thankless job, and the people who fill those roles are working against great odds to make sure these pets have the best possible lives while in their care.
Some of those pets are this week’s Pets of the Week:
• Kittens are everywhere at the shelter right now. All sizes, and all ages are represented, and so many just want the opportunity to be held and loved. If you have the chance, and the space in your heart and home, please visit and adopt - it might be the best decision you ever make!
• Pugsley has been at the shelter for a while now. He’s a sweet boy in need of a good home, and this handsome, rugged, four-year-old, neutered, male Sharpei would love to have a place to call home. If you could, please pay him a visit, show him some love, and let him prove to you what a good boy he can be.
• Faith is a lot of fun. A twelve-week-old, female kitten with a lot of energy and spunk, she loves to play and be held, and would be a wonderful addition to any family looking for a positive force at home. Definitely a keeper.
• Levi is a very handsome, very sweet, and very scared little fella in need of a forever family. A white and black, two-year-old Jack Russel Terrier, he warms up to you after a short while, but it’s obvious he’s not a fan of living at the shelter. He needs a place to call his own, grow with a family, and spread some love and joy - give him that chance!
