The shelter’s dog days of summer adoption event starts at 1 p.m. today when the shelter opens for business and runs through Sunday.
“All dogs over 6 months old will be (available for a) $35 adoption fee,” Tammy Davis, shelter director said. That’s a big discount considering puppy adoptions are $130 and adult dog adoptions are $115. And then there’s free stuff that goes home with every dog adopted.
“Every dog adopted will go home with a free gift ... an eight pound bag of food, two bowls, two dog toys,” Davis said. On Saturday, the shelter will have free refreshments and dog-themed giveaways each hour.
“Anyone who brings cans of dog food, dog toys or gives a monetary donation of $20 or more, we will put their name in for a chance to get a free gift basket,” Davis said.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. The shelter will also have a Jeep rally outside the shelter so proud Jeep owners — and others — can show off their ride.
“People can register to show off their Jeep or any four-wheel drive vehicle for $10 and for $5, anyone can walk through to look at those prized Jeeps,” Davis said. All the money from the Jeep rally will go toward operating costs of caring for animals at the shelter.
