Pets of the Week

Another extremely hot day in East Tennessee left me dreading what I expected to be a dismal trip to our local animal shelter, but it ended up being a really enjoyable visit.

There were plenty of amazing people visiting animals, petting cats, holding kittens, and walking dogs. Volunteers and visitors working together to ensure that these wonderful animals saw at least a few moments of joy during the day.

If you get a chance, join them, and visit your local facility - the people who work there will be so appreciative for the help, and eager to help you find a new family member.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Marble is a handsome six-month-old domestic short hair with a very interesting, marbled (hence the name) gray coat. He is a neutered male, and loves attention - but doesn’t go out of his way to let you know. He is laid back, calm, and ready to be someone’s best friend.

• Tribble is not an alien creature, she is a very happy, relaxed, and free-spirited, female Torbie who really enjoys being held. A seven-week-old domestic medium hair, she was excited and outgoing when presented with visitors, and very willing to lay back or play - whatever she was offered. Take her home!

• Hefty is a black-and-white seventeen-week-old kitten who’s a little under the weather right now, but on the mend. He is a domestic medium hair who loves to be held and pet, and would truly appreciate becoming a member of a loving household. If you think you could offer that, please take a few moments and visit Hefty.

• Molly is a one-year-old brown, black, and white female rabbit. She’s attentive, well-fed, and fairly large, and she loves people - really. Unlike a lot of rabbits, Molly showed no fear when I photographed or filmed her, or when I reached in to say hello. If you’re into rabbits, pay her a visit!
