Sara J. Burke

ERWIN - Sara J. Burke, age 83, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Governor’s Bend.

A native of Soddy Daisy, Sara is a daughter of the late William McKinley and Ruth (Jackson) Settles. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was employed by Baxter Pharmaseal for over 25 years. Sara was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at the Mountain Home VA. She was also a member of Clinchfield Senior Adult Center. Sara enjoyed playing card games and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 24 years, Norman Lee Burke, as well as 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Sara J. Burke leaves behind to cherish her memory: Daughters: Sharon Gryder and husband, Steve, Nancy Karnotski and husband, Ed, Norma “Sissy” Albaugh; Son: Brad Burke and wife, Susan; Grandchildren: Matthew Gryder, Jennifer Gryder, Christopher Mitchell, Whitney Uruquhart, Victoria Burke, Ashley Burke, Cheyenne Cupp; 3 great grandchildren; Sister-in-law: Sue Settles; Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and staff of Governor’s Bend for their loving care during this difficult time.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Sara J. Burke in a graveside committal service to be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, under the portico of the mausoleum at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend David Crutchfield will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Burke, Ed Karnotski, Steve Gryder, Christopher Mitchell and Matthew Gryder. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sara’s name to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 1525, Ranson WV 25438; or to Calvary Baptist Church, 540 Adams Street, Erwin, TN 37650.
