Roy Nelson Hall

KINGSPORT - Roy Nelson Hall, 87, of Kingsport, passed away at home on February 23, 2020 following a brief illness.

Roy graduated from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN.  After spending four years in the United States Air Force, 1951-1954, Roy married Helen Louise Hyder.  The spent 57 years together before she passed away in 2014.

Roy and Helen were very involved in their church, Heritage First Church of God.  Never meeting a stranger, Roy loved spending time with his family, friends, buddies at McDonald's, and doing whatever he could to help others.  Roy retired from Eastman after 34 years in the Filter Products Division.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Flora Hopkins and Thomas Foy Hall; sister, Edna Walker; brothers, Charles Hall and wife June, John Hall and his best friend, identical twin, Ray Hall.

Left to cherish his memory are his daugher, Cindy Hall of Kingsport and "grand-dog", Poppy Rae; son, Patrick Hall and wife Yvette of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Tanner Hall, Ryley Hall, and Alex Johnson; many family members including sister, Jo Ann Sparks (TJ), nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and special friend, Naomi Hall.

The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at Heritage First Church of God, 470 Rock Springs Road, Kingsport, TN with Pastor Steve Tilley officiating on Friday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m.     with visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage First Church of God or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in honor or Ava Corum and Donald Smith.

Special thanks to Mtn. Region Family Medicine:   Carli Cooper, DO; Ballad Health Cancer Center: Dr. Ryan Shao and all the staff; Bristol Regional Medical Center: ER, ICU Doctors and nursing staff, 2nd and 4th floors; and all of the staff at Amedisys Hospice for their loving care, especially his nurse, Tiffany Keene.
