John was the owner of Johnny’s Shoe Store & Wiseman’s Clothing Store. He had resided in the Tri-Cities area his whole life. He attended Mountain Mission School.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John W. & Addie Farner and three sisters; Cora D. Dollings, Shelby and Joyce, a granddaughter; Brandy Ann Nickels, Carrie and Cecil Swartz.
Johnny was cared for and loved as a teenager, by the Swartz family whom he dearly loved Carrie & Cecil Swartz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Laura Osborne Farner, three daughters; Charlene Kay Nickels, Susan Denise Webb (Michael) and Rebecca Ann Honigmann (Scott), two sons; John R. Farner, Jr. and Steve Cline, Three grandsons; Johnathan Nickels (Christina), Lance C. Webb (Heather), Steve Cline, Jr., six granddaughters; Lauren C. Webb, Brianna Honigmann, Laura Honigmann, Stacy Stacey, Brooke Cline and Kimberly Cline, two great-grandsons; Ethan Webb and Johnathan Nickels II, five great-granddaughters; Brittany Phillips, Gabe Phillips, Tearstyn Webb, Emma and Gabriella Hinkle and four sisters; Ann L. Osborne, Nora “Tootsie”, Margaret and JoAnn, one brother; Harold and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm at East Tennessee Funeral Home 3630 Hwy. 75. Blountville, TN. 37617. Service will follow at 7:00 pm with the Pastor George Hall officiating.
Mr. Farner will be entombed in the Mausoleum of Hope at East Tennessee Cemetery on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
