Virginia was born in Atkins, VA to the late William H. and Ollie Kegley Leonard. She lived most of her life in Johnson City where she worked at Kings Department Store for over 30 years and was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother and a wonderful friend to everyone. She always talked about her family and pets.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years; Charles Windell Clyburn in 2011 and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and daughters-in-laws; Charles D. Clyburn (Judy) of Gray, TN, Roy L. Clyburn (Wendy) of Piney Flats, TN, and Jeff A. Clyburn (Connie) of Telford, TN, grandsons; Evan Clyburn and Joe Clyburn, sisters; Anna Louise Holdren of King, NC, and Margie Shepard of Washington Grove, MD, Several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
The Clyburn family will gather to greet friends and share memories at Tetrick Funeral Services on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 11:00 to 1:00. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 2:00PM with Dr. Reggie Weems, officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone who wishes to attend the Graveside is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50PM.
In lieu of flowers the family would suggest donations be made to the Washington County Animal Shelter, 3411 N Roan St, Johnson City, TN 37601.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Elmcroft Senior Living and Cornerstone Village for all their love and care that was given the last few years and to Dr. Alan Forbush.
