Parron M. ”Buddy” Higgins

JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Parron Merrell “Buddy” Higgins, 81, Johnson City died Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the Erwin Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Unicoi County and was the son of the late Moat and Virginia Banner Higgins. Parron was a retired meat cutter, working at many area supermarkets. He was a member of Westerly Heights Baptist Church in Johnson City. Parron enjoyed his grandchildren and loved working in his yard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest, Billy and Elmer Higgins.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Wanda Barnett Higgins of Johnson City; two sons, Allan and James; a daughter; a sister, Dora Higgins Flowers; two grandsons and four granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Parron will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2020 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Rev. Jim Chatman officiating. The family will greet friends to share memories from 12:00 noon until the service hour. A graveside service will follow in the Roselawn Memory Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s of Northeast Tennessee, 2319 Brown Mill Road, Suite D-6, Johnson City, TN 37604.

The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and CNA’s of the Alzheimer’s Unit of Erwin Health Care Center for several years of care.
