A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Sam Erwin & Bonnie Bernice Johnson Hill. He served in the United States Army. He loved cars and worked for years in a body shop. He retired from Essyx Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Elmer, Donald and J.B. Hill.
Survivors include his children: Belinda Babb and husband David, Justin Hill & wife Mindy , and Adam Hill. Several Grandchildren. His Siblings: Shelby Miller & Husband Ike, Elk Hart, Indiana, Geraldine Clawson and husband Douglas, Jonesborough, Sylvia Hughes & husband Dayton, Phillip Hill, Kenneth Hill all of Johnson City, Roy Hill & wife Barbara, Ringgold, Georgia, Wayne Hill & wife Scarlet and Dewey Hill & wife Sheree, all of Johnson City. Several nieces & Nephews.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 with Pastor Tim Tipton and Pastor Garry Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (New Section) 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home, Tn. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Thursday will be his Co-Workers at Essyx. Music will be provided by Amy Knight. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the doctors and nurses at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, the staff at Caris Health Care and the staff of Hillview Nursing Center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Hill to the ST. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery (2115 Heroes Drive) at 1:50 p.m. Thursday.
