ELIZABETHTON - Shirley Claudett Stout Berry, 82, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Homer & Margaret Young Stout. She was a retired Inspector with Procter & Gamble. Mrs. Berry was a member of Heartland Fellowship. Her hobby was fishing & camping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Linda Stansberry and two brothers: John & Jerry R. Stout.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years: Jack Berry. Her Daughters: Martha Peterson & (Dean Burchette) and Jaqueline Reece & husband Darrell, all of Elizabethton. Four Grandchildren: Danny Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Danielle Denton and Meagan (“Summer”) Reece. Seven Great Grandchildren: Several nieces, nephews & cousins. Her longtime friend: Violet “Tiny” Bowers.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Carter and Pastor Marvin Slagle. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 3300 wing, Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care she received during her stay there. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday.
