HAMPTON - Ann Edwards Smith Adkins, 82, Hampton, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 in the NHC Health Care, Johnson City.

A native of Greene County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas G. & Byrdie Joanna Ramsey Edwards. She was a 1956 graduate of Unicoi County High School. She previously worked at Henredon Furniture, Spruce Pine, North Carolina, Carter County School System and the Carter County Sheriff Department. She was a member of Hampton Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Donald Smith, her second husband: Edgle Adkins and 13 Siblings.

Survivors include her children: Terry Lee Smith, and Gary Wayne Smith & wife Kay all of Hampton, Thomas Eugene Smith & wife Natalie, Elizabethton and Ritchie Allan Smith, Jacksonville, Florida. Her Grandchildren: Misty Seehorn & husband Johnny, Christy Smith, Sarah McBrearty and husband Jamie, Kasey Freier & husband George, Matthew Cody Smith, Daniel Smith & wife Jennifer, Christopher Smith, Alicia Laws, Jessica Smith and Heather Nicole Smith. 11 Great Grandchildren. One Brother: Hartsell Edwards & wife Edith, Knoxville, A sister-in-law: Betty Edwards. Her special friends: Bob & Vickie Watson, Doris Belue, Sherry Watson, Vivian Conard, and Cordia “Toots” Berry.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Roselawn Memorial Park. Music will be by the Friendship Free Will Baptist Church Quartett. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Carter County Sheriff Department. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Dr’s & Nurses of the Johnson City Internal Medicine and Dr’s. & Nurses of Johnson City Medical Center, the Staff of NHC Health Care, Pastor Dwayne Calhoun, Hampton Christian Church, Pastor Randy Johnson & Volunteer Staff, Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to come to the residence of Thomas Smith located at 113 Troy Pierce Road, Elizabethton.
