He was born October 28, 1948 in Johnson City to the late Ed & Myrtle Blevins Hill. Edward served in the United States Army where he received a Purple Heart during the Vietnam Era. He worked at Paty Lumber Truss Shop for several years prior to working at the Digital Media Center at East Tennessee State University. Edward was an avid train enthusiast. He loved motorcycle trips as a family and really enjoyed the off-roading jeep rides with family through the mountains of East Tennessee and North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Lawrence & Doran Lee Hill and a brother-in-law: Gary Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years: Lisa Honeycutt Hill, Daughter: Melissa Cordell & Husband Joshua. Grandchildren: Paisley and Jocelyn Cordell, also, a precious granddaughter due in May. Siblings: Louella Ledford and Billy Joe Hill. Brothers & Sisters-In-Law: J. L. & Brenda Mullins, Lonnie & Leslie Glass, Rita Davis, Neil Honeycutt, Darlene Hill and Ronnie Ledford. Several nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Edward Hill will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Tapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of 2500 Wing, Johnson City Medical, Dr. Kamesh Sivagnanan, Tasha Phillips and Chris Bennett.
