Mrs. Davis was born on July 2, 1921, in Kimball, West Virginia to the late Bryan and Eula Wheelock. Mrs. Davis was a native of Kimball West Virginia but had resided in the Gray and Johnson City area for 78 years.
Mrs. Davis was a Baptist in faith and enjoyed worshipping the Lord. She was a current member at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church where she had taught the Naomi Sunday school class. She was a former member at Unaka Baptist church, where she was a member of the singing choir. She was an elementary school teacher at Kingsprings Elementary School. She had also worked at King’s department store in Johnson City, Tennessee. Mrs. Davis loved doing volunteer work. She volunteered at the Johnson City Senior Center as well as at churches, preschools, and hospitals. Her hobbies included being a wonderful storyteller often volunteering at the Storytelling Festival; she also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, travelling, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clifford Davis; her son Clifford Bryan Davis; and her daughter Deborah Jean Davis.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Barbara Hodge; her son Dewayne Davis; her sister Betty Jenkins; 10 grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Jean Cook; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great- granddaughter.
Receiving of friends and family for Mrs. Davis will be held at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray, Tennessee, on Saturday November 9, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 PM with Dr. Gene Lasley officiating. Mrs. Davis will be interred following the funeral service at Monte Vista cemetery at 3:00 pm.
