Janet was a native of Johnson City and a daughter of the late Lester B. and Fannie Milligan Barnett. She was a 1974 graduate of Davy Crockett High School. Janet became a Believer in Jesus Christ through Vacation Bible School at a young age. She was a retired associate of R.R. Donnelly Printing. In her young adult years she played and enjoyed ladies softball.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Evelyn Williams, and a sister in law, Jane Barnett.
Survivors include her twin brother: James D. Barnett of Chuckey, other brothers, Ronald Barnett of Johnson City, Freddie and Donald Barnett of Jonesborough, and Jerry Barnett of Elizabethton. A special family friend, John Cravener of Chuckey, brother-in-law, James E. Williams, two sister-in-laws, Rita Barnett and Sharon Barnett. She is also survived by two nephews, three nieces, six great nephews, and four great nieces.
A Graveside funeral service for Janet will be held at 3PM Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the Roselawn Memorial Park in Johnson City, with the Reverend Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 2 PM Saturday, prior to the graveside service, at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City. Those wishing to attend the graveside service will meet at the cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be her brothers.
