JOHNSON CITY - Glenn David Birchfield, age 72 of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at his home.

He was a son of George and Alma Ruth Godsey Birchfield, born to them on September 11, 1946 in Johnson City, Tennessee. Glenn loved his family and church, and was a loyal member of the Boones Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He worked in several manufacturing positions with companies including North Electric, TPI, and Speed Clip and was also a supervisor for the Census Bureau. After retirement, Glenn worked for the Good Samaritan and Manna House. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, bowling, spending time with his family and watching Jeopardy.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Ken Birchfield and a special foster child, Steveson Cavin.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cathi Birchfield; Sons: Danny Birchfield (Sonya), David Birchfield (Amy), Dan Hicks (Alina) and Phillip Hicks; Sisters: Linda Birchfield and Jewell Birchfield; 5 Grandchildren: Daniel, David (Chelsea), Brittney, Brianna Birchfield, and Seoc O’Brien; 1 Great-Grandchild; Kara Hayes and a very special “son” Don (Duck) Shepard (Kim.)

A memorial service to commemorate Glenn’s life will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 3:30 P.M. in the Sunset Room of Tetrick Funeral Services of Johnson City with Garry Edwards and Jason Royston officiating.

The family will receive friends at Tetrick Funeral Services on Sunday, September 15, 2019 after 1:30 P.M. until the hour of service at 3:30 P.M.

Glenn loved to read, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boones Creek Baptist Church Library in loving memory of Glenn.
