Ilse was a native of Wetzlar, Germany, and had been a resident of Johnson City since the age of 23.
She was a daughter of the late Anna Mararete Hedrich Imschweiler.
Ilse worked for the Kalogeros family at the Peerless Steakhouse for more than twenty-five years, and was a favorite server of many customers throughout the years.
She was a loving, kind woman, who was a perfectionist.
In addition to her mother, Ilse was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Black, a granddaughter, DeAnna Bentley, a sister, Lieselotte Rae, her brother, Karl-Heinz Hedrich.
She is survived by her life partner, James Stinson; three daughters, Shirley Harvey, Karen Cain and Carol Black; one son, Woody Painter, Jr.; grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Summer, Caden, Grayson, Solomon, Erica and Tessa; a sister, Marion Hedrich.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, August 30, 2019, at 2:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor Eugene Schnauser, officiating.
The graveside committal service will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
