She was a resident of NHC Healthcare at the time of her death.
Tenna was born November 19, 1927 in the Crabtree community of Roan Mountain, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her momma and daddy, Bonnie and John, and by her brothers John, Ernest, Rob, Roy and Bruce, and sister Gladys. Also preceding Tenna in death was her husband of 46 years, former Fire Chief Clarence Eades, in 1993.
Tenna worked at a hosiery mill, a food brokerage and Thomas Products before retiring from the Holston Baptist Association as financial secretary in 1995. She came to faith in Christ as a child at Temple Baptist Church. She loved missions, and was active with the WMU, GA’s, and the girls at the Johnson City Baptist Center. In her retirement years she enjoyed the Current Missions Group of her home church, Central Baptist, where she had been a member since 1977.
Tenna took pleasure in flower gardening, home décor and travel. She will be fondly remembered for her peanut butter pie, egg custard pie, mashed potatoes and deviled eggs. She loved shopping, and had collected a china pattern for each of her granddaughters. She was especially partial to hats! Tenna was a beautiful woman.
Surviving Tenna are her sons and daughters-in-law: Ted and Kathy, Fred and Judy and Mark and Linda. Tenna was known as Mamaw by her granddaughters Wendy, Shannan, Ashley, Meredith, Jordan and McKenzie, and by great-grandchildren, McKenna, Christian, Connor, and Jonah. She was a grandmother for 49 years! Tenna is also survived by many of the extended family, including her niece Bertha Coleman of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Marilyn Thompson was Tenna’s good friend.
