Idia was born on June 23, 1917, in Knoxville to the late Samuel Sligar and Dora Radcliff Sligar. She was of the Christian Faith and was a religious and Godly woman. She was a very loving mother.
Idia was a homemaker for much of her life, and she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making candy, sewing and decorating her home. Idia enjoyed making holidays special for her family; her special cakes will always be fondly remembered.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Hubert; sisters, Mary Fannie, Minirva and Bessie; and a very special and dedicated brother Clarence Sligar.
Idia is survived by her children, Lovonda, of the home, Dixie and Ned; one grandson; one great-grandson; special nephew, Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.
Idia’s family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Monte Vista Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Minister C. Lyons Shepard and Chaplain Steven Spell. A committal service and interment will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park in the Garden of Peace.
