He was born on September 8, 1932 in Max Meadows, VA, the son of the late William Marshall and Sally Elizabeth Jackson Collins. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Nila Amick Collins; sister, Charlotte Callis; and brother, Ray Rickey.
Cecil was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He attended Milligan College and the National College of Chiropractic and served the people of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia as a chiropractor, friend and neighbor for 61 years. He loved life and spending time with his family and neighbors. He had a passion for fishing as well as UT and Clemson Football.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Collins Johnson and husband Bobby of Abingdon, VA; sons, Dr. Cecil Eugene Collins, Jr. and wife Diana of Lebanon, VA and Marshall McKnight Collins and wife Debbie of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Sylina Potts, Mary “Katie” Brown, Nicole Collins, Matthew Collins, Christopher Collins, and Jonathan Collins; great-grandchildren, Adante’ Aguilar, Octavio Aguilar, Nykai Anthony, Nila Joy Potts and Aliya McBride; sisters, Bernice Niekirk, Shirley Warf and Barbara Ann Harpe; brother, Dickey Rickey; and many special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM and from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home in Bristol, TN. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2019 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Camper officiating. The committal service and entombment will follow in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
