Oliver Cecil Allen Sr.

Oliver Cecil Allen Sr., departed this life at his home in Walker, LA June 12, 2019.

He was born August 23, 1946 in Johnson City, TN., to the late Ernest Allen and Bonnie Allen Waters both of Johnson City , TN.

At the age of 12 he was baptized and become a member of Thankful Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Douglas Elementary School and Langston High School in Johnson City. He was a member of the Golden Tigers basketball team and the Langston Marching Band. Cecil’s senior class was the last class to graduate Langston High School. He attended ETSU and later joined the U.S. Air Force and served as Security NCOIC until honorably discharged.

While in the Air Force he married Inelda Petiit of Panama City, Panama. From this marriage two Children were born Oliver Cecil Allen Jr., of Dallas, TX and Annette Allen (Luis) Forbes of Atlanta, GA.

He later moved to Baton Rouge, LA and married Gail Boudreaux in 1976. From this union was born two children Chaundra (Barron) Jones, of Dennin Springs, LA and Brandon Allen of Geismar, LA. Cecil was an employee of EXXON Chemical Plant for two years.. He was then employed by Borden Chemical Company for 24 years, until his retirement. He was an avid member of the Good Times Bass Club of Baton Rouge, LA for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Albert and Gerthia Allison, Uncle Ralph Cloyd and three brother Reginald (Louise) Logan, Clarence (Mary) Allen, and David (Gwen) Crawford.

Cecil leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Gail, three sisters, Peggy Moton, Katie Dave and Gertha (Eugene) Trottie. Eleven grandchildren, Derius Long, Nicholas Allen , Nayah Jones, Matthew Brumfield, Jaylen Allen, Jace Allen, Karley Allen, Melanie Forbes, Ernesto Forbes, Catrina Forbes and Luis Antonio Forbes. Four Great Grandchildren, Kristian House, Zariyah Forbes, Ianiyah Forbes, and Phoenix Long and a host of nieces, nephews. and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday June 29, 2019 at Thankful Baptist Church in Johnson City. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the church prior to the service.
