Thomas James (TJ) Hylton, “The Clown”

Thomas James (TJ) Hylton, “The Clown,” passed away on June 2, 2019 at his home in Johnson City, Tennessee.

He was born on August 18, 1951 in Tucson, Arizona, the son of John Hawkins and Stella Alice Crain Hylton. TJ and his wife Dixie Jean Cady Hylton were married for 33 years. His son Wesley Hylton Brown lives in Kansas.

TJ was a Ringling Brothers clown for 10 years and continued to perform after that at many festivals and hospitals throughout the country. He loved making children smile.

TJ was an Army veteran and lived most of his life in Washington County, Tennessee.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

TJ never knew a stranger – he said they were just a friend he hadn’t met yet.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 15 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 211 Mayflower Road, Johnson City.
