He was born on January 3, 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Jonesborough.
He was an outdoorsman. Kenny loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He will always be remembered by his contagious laugh and kind, loving spirit. Kenny attended Davy Crockett High School, worked in construction and landscaping. He was a master with vinyl siding. Kenny loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith.
Kenny was the son of Dinah Kay Hardin (Thomas R.) Lyle and Vernon Wesley Thompson. He was the grandson of the late Thelma Bowers (Paul) Campbell, Kenneth Hardin, and the late Jessie E. Scott (Ralph W.) Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Rita McCormick.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish Kenny’s memory include his brother, Eric Thompson and his fiancé Leslie Maczka, sisters: Karen (Ralph) Roberts, Kimberly (Josh) Barden; nephews: Joshua Proffitt, Jesse Thompson, and Hunter Barden; nieces: Sophia, Mia, and Samantha; great niece, Cienna Faye, aunts and uncles: Janice (Ron) Shelton, Linda (Mike) Conkin, Margaret (Lewis) Gurkin, Beverly Thompson, Louise (Tom) Terry, Mary Ann Branche, Claudia Branch, Carl (Susan) Branch, and David Varnell; several cousins, godson, Luke Howell, his dog, Frank, and his lifelong friend, Samantha Baker.
The family will greet friends to share memories on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 am until a Celebration of Kenny’s Life at 1:00 pm in the Sunrise chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Pastor Michael Faye and Pastor Curtis Hurt officiating. A Graveside and Committal service will be held following the visitation period at 2:30 pm in Eden United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough. Ralph Roberts, Joshua Proffitt, Jesse Thompson, Timothy McCormick, Eric Thompson, and other friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Shelton, and Mike Conkin.
