A native of Unicoi County, Valery is a daughter of John and Nola (Richardson) Tipton. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. O’Dell Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and loved to cook and keep her home. In addition to her parents, Valery is preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Story.
Valery (Tipton) Story leaves behind to cherish her memory: Daughter: Janice Hardin and husband, Tim, of Unicoi; Granddaughter: Sherry Tilson and husband, James, of Erwin; Great-granddaughter: Amy Richardson, of Erwin; Sister: Helen Lamb and husband, Estel, Their son: Michael and his wife, Debbie; Several loving nieces and nephews.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Valery (Tipton) Story in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Michael Lamb will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Vernon and James Story. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 pm and will continue until service time on Thursday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 7, 2019 in Bumpass Cove Cemetery. Reverend Otis Banks will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Amy Richardson. Those attending the committal service will meet at Bumpass Cove Cemetery by 10:50 am for the service. Pallbearers will be notified.
