Jeanette Southerland, 84, of the Horse Creek community, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2009 at her home.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill UM Church.

She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Eddie L. and Phyllis Southerland, Samuel L. Southerland, Thomas Lee and Michelle Southerland; 4 grandchildren: Cassandra Southerland, Rebecca Southerland, Evan Monk and Ivy Monk; 2 great-grandchildren: Bryson, and Case; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew: Danny and Elaine Venerable; special friend: Ruth Burgner; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Katherine and David Coulter of Knoxville, Peggy Southerland.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Samuel T. Southerland; 2 sisters: Genevieve Venerable and Joyce Ann Painter; brother: Bobby Brobeck; parents: Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Painter. 

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the nurses and caregivers over the years, including Dr. Thwing.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 2-4PM & 5-7PM at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 1PM at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton with Rev. Mark Laughlin and Rev. Bobby Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jeff Gosnell, Danny Venerable, Danny Peters, Chris Wilhoit, Evan Monk, and Tim McKinney. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Gosnell, Kenny Wilhoit, Joel Thompson, Members of Pleasant Hill UM Church, and neighbors of the Horse Creek community.
