Born August 7, 1961 in Bristol, Virginia, she had lived in Elizabethton most of her life. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She was a Computer Repair person. Rebecca was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. She was inducted into the 2017 Carter County Sports Hall of Fame for Softball.
Survivors include her mother: Mona Ernestine & Gene Sweeney, Elizabethton. Her Father: R.H. & Jean Berry, Watauga. Son: Matthew Pierce and Grandson Lincoln Duarte. Her Brothers: Bob & Vickie Berry and David & Cindy Sweeney. Her Sisters: Michelle & Rick Bright, and Angel & Stanley White. Several nieces & nephews who she loved dearly. Her fur baby Pork Chop and also a large group of friends too numerous to mention.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in the Oak Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Polk and Dr. Chris Shumate officiating. Music will be provided by Jamie Schaff, Soloist and David Arney, Organist. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Oak Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Rebecca to the Appalachian Tails Rescue c/o Robin McKamy, 206 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
