She was a native of Wise County, VA and had lived in Johnson City for many years.
Vivian was a daughter of the late Wiley Jackson Willis and Amie Cook Willis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Beverly, her sister, Hula Willis Horne, her brother, John Thomas Willis, and an infant brother.
She attended Wise County, VA schools, where she was a member of the girl’s championship basketball team, the marching band, concert band, and the Methodist musical group. After high school, she lived and worked in Washington D.C. She volunteered at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Vivian moved to Johnson City in 1970 after serving two terms as President of Bristol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Scholarship Loan Fund. She was a member of the Johnson City Monday Club, and former member of Moose Lodge 1831. Vivian was a member of First Presbyterian Church. There are no words to describe the love Vivian had for her family. They were her most prized and precious possession.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Patricia Beverly Smith and her husband John Homer, her brother-in-law, Ralph Eugene Horne, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
At Vivian’s request, she will be laid to rest at Washington County Memory Gardens during a private family Committal Service.
