She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Troy and Hannah Elizabeth Castle Holbrook.
Marilyn graduated from Virginia High School in 1972 and Virginia Intermont College in 1977 with a degree in Medical Technology. She worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs for 30 years, retiring in 2010. She was a member of Anderson Street United Methodist Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Marilyn loved working in her flowers and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, David A. Watson; two daughters, Ashley Hamm and husband, Josh and their children, Ashlynn and Mason; Alyson Shaffer and husband, Adam and their child, John, all of Bluff City, TN; two sisters, Becky Buhls and her children, Jereme, Hannah and Josh; and Kathy Frye and husband, Robert and their daughter, Lindsey; one brother, Tony Holbrook and his children, Charlie and Jamie; brother-in-law, Ronnie Watson and wife, Judy and their children, Amanda and Troy; many special cousins and two special friends, Melinda Gentry and Duffy Stout.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 4, 2019 in Glenwood Cemetery with Dr. Alan King officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews and cousins.
