Geraldean Grindstaff Lewis

JOHNSON CITY - Geraldean Grindstaff Lewis, 81, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord Monday April 1, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born to the late Charlie Jackson and Myrtle “Jones” Grindstaff.

Geraldean was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend. She was a member of Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church. Geraldean always made sure her family was taken care of, she loved to work in her flower garden and touched many lives through her card ministry. She was a homemaker most of her life but when her children were older she worked at Giants Grocery Store, Advanced auto, Kings Department Store and later Hands On.

Along with her parents Geraldean was preceded in death by her brothers Jack Taylor, Louis Taylor, Carl Taylor, and Billy Joe Grindstaff.

Those left to cherish Geraldean’s memory include her loving husband of sixty-two years Billy Joe Lewis; daughter Judy Davis (Ricky) of Gray; sons Billy Lewis (Debbie) of Johnson City, Jeff Lewis (Carrie) of Jonesborough, Gary Lewis (Renee) of Johnson City, Terry “Tree” Lewis (Teresa) of Limestone; sisters Alice Arnett and Maude Little (Dewey); brother Charlie Grindstaff; grandchildren Michelle, Ricky, Matthew, Emily, Seth, Ryan, Morgan, Alyssa, Mahala, Gayrn; greatgrandchildren Lily, Jackson, Ava, Isabella along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Lewis family will gather to greet friends and share memories from 5pm-7pm Friday April 5, 2019 at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City with a Funeral Service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Otis Banks and Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. A Graveside will be held 11am Saturday April 6, 2019 at Monta Vista Memorial Park, Marcus Puckett, Scott Gobble, Matthew Mclain, Taylor Davidson, Cody Mclain, Tyres Silvers, and Ryan Lewis will serve as pall bearers. Those who wish to attend the Graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55am.

The Lewis family would like to extend a special thank you to Bill and Geraldean’s caretaker Matthew Mclain and all of her Tree St. neighbors, also to Rev. Don Page for the many visits.

In lieu of flowers the Lewis family has asked that donations be made to Ryan Lewis’ mission trip at tn.baptist.manageadmissions/MyTrip/ryanlewis2 in Geraldean’s memory.
