Michael Arthur Perry

JONESBOROUGH - Michael Arthur Perry, 55, of Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Born in El Dorado, AR he is the son of the late Joe and Elsie Perry. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by: his brother, Tommy D. Perry; aunt, Joyce Perry; uncle, Bobby Perry; and grandparents, Andrew “Jack” and Nellie A. Perry.

Mike had dedicated his life to Christ, knowing at a young age that he needed God in his life. He was a leader in youth groups during his teenage years and was involved in the Baptist Student Union during college at Southern Arkansas University where he studied Mass Communications. He spent nine years as a part-time youth minister while working full time in radio. His dream was to serve God in Christian radio. Mike has worked in the radio broadcasting industry for more than thirty-six years, working in both country and Christian formats. He spent twenty years at WCQR Radio and while working there was awarded the GMA Medium Market of the Year Award three times. WCQR was also awarded the Christian Music Broadcasters Medium Market Station of the Year Award. He was most recently the Program Director and Morning Show Host of Love FM Radio.

In his spare time, Mike enjoyed watching football, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks, fishing, hanging with his family, and relaxing to the music of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.

Those left to cherish Mike’s memory include: wife of 25 years, Stacy of the home; children, Daniel Perry and Sarah of Jonesborough; aunt, Sherry Perry of El Dorado, AR; sister-in-law, Barbara Perry of El Dorado; nephew, Andrew “Andy” Perry (Lindsey) of El Dorado, AR; niece, Brandy Perry Joiner (Marlon) of Greenbrier, AR; great-nephew, Jason Perry; and great-niece, Ali Reece Joiner.

The family will gather to receive friends in the Sunrise chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM with a Celebration of Mike’s life immediately following with Pastor Greg Doebler. A committal and interment will take place on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City beginning at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM. Pallbearers will be: Matt Pollock, Mike Taylor, Pooner Powell, Jake Necessary, Mark Mack, and Patton Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Hatcher, Casey Barnes, and Mark Williams.
