• Feb 2, 2019 at 4:56 PM

PRINCETON, KY - Ancil was born on September 10, 1927 in Washington Co., Tennessee to Frank and Lucy Luttrell where he lived until he joined the Paratroopers during the Korean conflict.

He served eight years and mostly in Japan. Once, while in Japan and walking down the street, he ran into his older brother, Willis. Neither knew that the other was in Japan at the time. Ancil also had four other brothers that served in WWII prior to that.

Ancil was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal McGee and Martha Leonard, both of Johnson City; and four brothers, Paul of Greenville, SC, Ralph of Springfield, MO, Lee Roy of Butler, PA, and Willis of Norfolk, VA.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 41 years, Jean and her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Susan Field and their kids. He often spoke fondly of those kids. Also surviving are two sisters, Madelyn Neal (Argil) of Johnson City, TN and Norma Gene Chapman of Kingsport, TN; and one brother, Claude (Jenell) of Johnson City, TN.

Ancil had a very active life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying, but the most important decision he ever made was accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a 12 year old boy.

He was baptized at Cherokee Baptist Church in Jonesboro, TN.
