BRISTOL - Mr. Mark Lynn Powers, 52, of Bristol, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2019.

Born September 6th, 1966 in Bristol, Virginia, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was the son of the late Lester Lynn Powers, and survived by mother Barbara Odum Lewis, and stepfather Stanley Lewis, both of Bluff City, Tennessee. He is survived by his son Joseph Lynn Powers and wife Martha Powers, sister Amiee Gilley and brother in law Chris Gilley as well as step-daughter Andrea Baines and step-grandson Evan Baines. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and his best four legged friend he could have had, Buddy.

Mark was a graduate of Virginia High School in Bristol, Virginia. He worked at Beecham and continued his career in the medical field working at Bristol Regional Medical Center and the last 20 years for Pharmacy Network Services as a sales representative in Johnson City, Tennessee. For the last nine years he owned Southside Discount Grocery in Bristol, Tennessee.

He enjoyed boating, camping, and the occasional football game. Mark had an undeniable talent at cooking and grilling, always with a new twist on an age old recipe. Mark never knew what it meant to be idle, an avid person that always was working to help someone in any way he could. Donations of both materials and time, he always enjoyed helping and tending to those in need whether it was advice, necessities, or just his time.

He was a man that knew a little about a lot. One that you could ask about anything and he seemed to have an idea of how it worked, or how it should. He was the best father any son could have asked for, an exceptional mentor, friend, and always a listening ear for many friends.

The family of Mark Powers will receive friends at Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol, Tennessee from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jack Stevens and Rev. Dayton Lewis officiating. The graveside committal service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.
