Donald Joseph Evans, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 26, 2019 peacefully at his home.

Don was a native of Old Forte, NC before moving to Greeneville in the 1950’s with his wife and two daughters. He began working for Magnavox and later retired from there. He loved spending time with his family, woodworking, and gardening. He was a man of strong faith believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after passing. He was met at Heaven’s gate by his precious wife of 70 years, Bernice and two daughters Jan Holly and Joanne Evans.

Left to cherish his memories are his sister: Helen Lowery; brother: Jerry Evans; grandchildren: Derek and Helen Holly, Trevor Holly and Lindsey Musselman, Brett Holly, Shea Holly; six great grandchildren.

A special thank you to Trevor Holly and Lindsey Musselman for putting your life on hold to care for such a deserving man. We are beyond blessed to have two amazing individuals caring for their grandfather in his last few months. The bond that was created is now left as beautiful memories. We are forever thankful for the love that was always shown during this time.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1-2 at Jeffers Funeral Chapel Afton. The funeral service will be held at 2PM in the chapel, with Rev. Richard Bowers officiating. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Greene County Honor Guard in Graceland Memorial Gardens. Thoughts and memories may be shared with the family at www.jeffersmortuary.com . Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
