Connie Sue Johnson Brown

JOHNSON CITY - Connie Sue Johnson Brown, 66, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, December 28, 2018 just before midnight, in the arms of her family and friends.

Connie was born in Johnson City to the late Cecil L. and Dorothy Ellen Rupe Johnson.

Connie was educated in Johnson City Schools and a graduate of Science Hill High School. She was employed by the Johnson City Press and retired from the advertising department in 2016. She also worked for awhile at the Munsey Pre-School while her daughter was young. Connie loved gardening, reading, and relaxing in her swimming pool. She had a lifelong love for animals big or small. She was a member of Munsey United Memorial Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Lynn Johnson.

Those left to cherish the memory of Connie are her loving husband of 45 years, Stephen Lewis Brown, her daughter Valda Marie Grimmett and husband Yancy of Johnson City, sisters Lynda Barrier and husband Jack of Atlanta, Donna Gayle Hayes of Johnson City, and brother Randy Johnson of Knoxville, grandchildren Paige and Andrew Ward, Rose and Cody Hubbard, and Lillian, Laney and Max Grimmett, several nieces and nephews, and special animal companions Cooper and Rosie. A special thank you to all of our neighbors on Bair-Vette Avenue, and many special friends, who were comforting to Connie and the family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Lester, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
