Myron John Hartsaw

Myron John Hartsaw, 63, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 after a brief illness surrounded by family at Johnson City Medical Center.

He was born on March 23, 1955 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Columbus (Ted) and Viola Hayden Hartsaw.

Myron graduated from Science Hill High School in 1973. In his late twenty’s he began working at Amerace Microporous, LLC in Piney Flats, TN manufacturing battery separators used in nuclear power plants and military facilities across the country. He retired from this company after over three decades of employment. Myron was a hard worker, strong father figure, and influential in his community. Known as “Mernie” to all of his close family and friends, he was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. He had a love for fashion by always being “decked out” in the brightest colors with matching hats. He brought out the best in everyone that he met.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents Christopher Columbus “Ted” and Viola Hayden Hartsaw, maternal and paternal grandparents, nephew, Jerry Bridwell Jr., and brothers Colin Vaught and Christopher Columbus “Teddy” Hartsaw Jr. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter LaToya Hartsaw Neary and husband Donald, of Piney Flats, TN; 3 sisters, Norma Faye Bridwell, Verna Howard-Snapp, of Johnson City, and Kay Hartsaw, of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Jerry Hartsaw and wife Val, of California and Kenny Parks, of Johnson City; ex-wife Carolyn “C.C.” Personeus, of Johnson City; 1 aunt, Marie Rutherford, of Morganton, NC; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends; and special friend Penny Salters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at NHC – Johnson City, TN, Johnson City Medical Center, and Ballad Health Hospice for the care, kindness, and compassion provided to Myron and his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm Saturday September 15, 2018 at St. Paul AME Zion Church in Johnson City. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens in Johnson City.
